RORY KELLEHER

Rory Kelleher has been directing commercials for over 9 years, during which time he has received increasing interest internationally. His background in creative design and television, as well as his experience of the visual arts, multi-media and post-production, has supported his transition into directing.

Kellehers arresting style effortlessly blends live action and performance with cutting edge post-production techniques, creating a surprising combination of effects and live-action that the viewer can relate to. Performance with an emotional undercurrent is key to making the audience believe in the effects work, no matter how extraordinary or sophisticated it is.

In 2001, Rory became involved with Touchstone Pictures Reign of Fire, where he was brought in to look after onscreen CGI visuals and design elements due to his expertise in post-production. Since completing work on the film, his projects have grown in scale and sophistication. International commercial work soon followed as Rory helmed projects for Guinness, Sunsilk and Coca Cola.

This crossover into advertising was greeted with much acclaim, his filmic and cinematic style jumping out of the screen and grabbing the audiences attention. In 2003 he was featured as One to Watch in the prestigious SHOTS New Directors Showcase. His controversial Anti-litter campaign Race Against Waste was hailed as groundbreaking, winning a Gold in the 2003 New York Advertising Awards, the first Irish work to do so.

In 2004, Rory won Best Director at ICADS for his even more controversial NICO campaign. His second spot for Cocacola (BPM) winning best use of post production the same year. In 2005 Budweiser won ICAD Craft and Silver, and in 2008 Bank of Ireland won ICAD Silver for best animation. His work has also garnered several LEAF awards and has been featured extensively in Creative Review and Broadcast Magazine.

Rory has continued to deliver cinematic gems, such as his beautiful snow bound epic for Coors Light, and his unique attention grabbing new spots for Hornbach in Europe. Rory has recently completed four beautiful international brand spots for AXA in 2009, an incredible SFX piece for Guinness. His most recent accomplishments include campaigns for Crocs, Staples and the Verizon Motorola Zoom tablet.
