After completing a diploma course in the College of Marketing and Design, Colum went to work for Windmill Lane as an assistant editor. Whilst in Windmill he worked on commercials and music videos including U2’s Joshua Tree.

Colum left Windmill Lane in 1993 to join Russell Avis Productions as a commercials director. He has shot many commercials since including Bulmers Trapeze which won a gold Mobius award. Other commercials include Ballygowan, Special Olympics, Denny’s, Bus Eireann, Chef, Centra and many more.
